Call for Workshops

Deadline for proposals: February 29th 2024

The 5th World Ecoacoustics Congress (WEC) will feature a series of workshops designed to provide expert-led education and training on crucial topics for developing and implementing ecoacoustic research and applications. The workshops will be open to all WEC attendees, after registration and subject to availability of place.

Call for workshops is now open!

We are excited to announce that the call for workshops is now open and invite you to submit your proposal at this upcoming event, scheduled for 8th-12th July 2024, in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain.

Workshop details

Workshops are expected to be designed as work sessions, aimed to provide training on essential skills and techniques related to ecoacoustics. They can be focused on both theoretical and practical contents and include indoor and/or outdoor activities. We encourage workshop coordinators to put a significant emphasis on the applied and functional aspects of the workshop topic.

A workshop can be 90 minutes or 210 minutes long, with an additional 30-min coffee break. The number of places offered can be determined by the workshop coordinator and will be subject to the number of seats (from 80 to 400) of the assigned space in the Venue.

Each workshop will be led by the workshop coordinator who will be in charge of building and submitting the proposal, providing documentation to the participants and running the session. Proposals with more than one coordinator are allowed. All workshop materials should be provided by the coordinator(s). For specific requests of material that you may need, please contact workshops@ecoacoustics2024.org.

Proposed workshops should meet the scope of the WEC as set out by our website and the website of the International Society of Ecoacoustics (please read theWelcome message of the 5th World Ecoacoustics Congress for more details). We invite proposals on a variety of topics related to ecoacoustics, including but not limited to those listed in the Preliminary program, as the following ones:

  • Theoretical basis of ecoacoustics
  • Recording and sampling methods
  • Biodiversity monitoring through ecoacoustics
  • Workflows and protocols for sound analysis
  • Advanced techniques in data analysis
  • Introduction and training on the use of specific software
  • Ecoacoustic applications in conservation and environmental management
  • Strategies for effective project management in ecoacoustic research
